Prime Time is inclusive and has a SEND and disabilities policy. At Primetime Kids Club we acknowledge that each child is an individual. We ask you to disclose all details about your child’s needs on application or on initial enquiry. We will fully talk to you as parents/carers and with your consent any other professionals who know your child well so we can together make the correct decisions for your child. We will assess what reasonable adjustments can be made to support your child to attend. We never wish for any child to be set up to fail by a lack of proper thought and consideration by the adults supporting them, including us. Once initial consultations have been completed a mutually agreeable start date will be decided upon if deemed necessary before any booked sessions, to allow your child to have some settling in sessions, and for Prime Time Kids Club to ensure the environment is meeting your child’s needs.
What does it look like in our setting when making SEND considerations? – Due to the nature of our free choice and free flow environment, there are limited adult led activities as children have the freedom to choose how they spend their time at the club. This will suit some children more than others, and we understand that some children may find the noise and the unstructured nature of our sessions challenging. Some ways we support is
–             We have ear defenders around the room
–            There is a vast outdoor space. This can be helpful to some children as they can find a quiet space outside, use climbing equipment to hang and swing and use the vast space to re- regulate 
–            We have an indoor sensory tent which is dark inside, has a sensory light and music, fidget toys and a weighted blanket.
–            We have picture cards to support communication
–            We can create visual timelines or now and next boards if required
–            We ask for a minimum of 3 settling in sessions before attendance where we will see first-hand what your child needs. We will then be able to make a formal decision about whether we can meet the needs of your child and whether our setting is suitable for them. Parents may be invited to stay for some of these sessions to help see first-hand if our environment is right for their child
–            Any confirmed booked sessions may be time adjusted by offering shorter and more manageable sessions to meet your child’s needs until it is deemed suitable to increase them gradually to longer sessions.
–            We strive to ensure at least half of our staff team are qualified in Early Years or Play Work and have relevant experience
We ensure our Behaviour Policy is always adhered to. We always support children to improve upon any inappropriate behaviours whilst being clear as to what is unacceptable behaviour.  Behaviours that affect the enjoyment or safety of others attending the setting such as persistent swearing, physical harm to others, not following the instructions of staff especially where the behaviours could make things unsafe for themselves or others will be addressed under this policy.
It’s important to note that Out of School Clubs are not primary care or education providers for children. While Out of School Clubs must not discriminate under the Equality Act 2010, we are not legally required to take every child with additional needs or an EHCP, particularly where we cannot safely meet the child’s needs. If a child requires 1:1 support, we cannot financially fund this as a small charity, however a child may be able to gain financial support if they are in receipt of HAF (Holidays and Food) or if parents are able to self- fund the costs of a 1:1 support worker.
Currently on roll we have 21% of children attending with an additional need. Not all children have an EHCP but are identified as needing some extra support.
